"A muggle bus?" Deanna asked. "Would we have to wait long? If there is a wait, I vote Knight Bus."
She drew her wand out and waited for input from the other two.

"Sound's great," Sophie said. "It will be faster."

Without waiting for a response from Lance, Deanna thrust her wand into the air. Few seconds passed and a violently violet bus came hurtling into view. The conductor stepped off to greet them. He was no Stan Shunpike- he had little charisma and a monotonous voice. Deanna paid him and the three boarded the bus.
"Let's take seats toward the front," Deanna said. "Easy exit once we're there."
She seated herself next to a window and propped her head against it. The glass was cool against her cheek. Once the conductor had gotten back on the bus, it began thundering down the street, unseen by muggles. When the bus jolted suddenly, Deanna sat ram-rod straight. Though she travelled on the Knight Bus frequently, she occasionally got sick. She didn't want to lose composure now. But, as the bus took a turn, Deanna's stomach lurched. She searched her robe pockets for gum and popped a piece in her mouth. It was a stress reliever. Though her mother used to scold her for developing a slight chewing-dependency, Deanna couldn't kick the habit. Gum calmed her nerves.
Deanna leaned her head against the window once more, this time to brace herself. She glanced to Sophie who seemed half-asleep. Sophie's bruises gleamed black, purple and blue in the late morning sun. Deanna still wondered where they came from. She cast a look to Lance, who didn't seem to notice. Deanna looked back at Sophie, who had seemingly drifted off. Taking the hint, Deanna shut her eyes to rest. Everytime the bus turned or stopped though, it would jolt her awake. How could Sophie sleep through the bumpy ride?

Lil Reed watched the three make their way down the aisle. She had been told to spy on their progress, but had been unable to track them down since that night at the Hog's Head, where an emergency at St. Mungos had distracted her. Now, however, everything was set, and she was ready to do what she did best- monitor the rest while they did the work and make sure they didn't mess anything up.

Sophie told the conductor where they needed off, then took a seat on the opposite side of the bus from Deanna and Lance. She stared at her feet. Riding the Knight Bus never made her sick. Instead, it often made her drowsy. She realized her night in the field had not been restful and she was still very tired.

Lance sat bolt upright in his seat. He looked around suspiciously, with his hand on his wand. When Stan came with there change, he used his other hand to take it and pass it to deanna. He took turns between stairing out the window and seeing things like muggles, cars, and a black cat, too looking around in the bus, and seeing things such wizards and whitches. None of them seemed to be a threat, but they all could. One girl a few seats back had been looking at him, but when he cought her eye she looked away. He figured she had been checking him out, and let it drop (AOC: lol). He cought Deanna's eyes and nodded towards Sophie, who was asleep. He mouthed the words "what do u think about the bruises?"

Deanna shrugged.
"I think she's lying about where she got them.... Maybe someone...." Deanna stopped. "Lance get over here. I don't want to shout this."
Lance moved to where Deanna was sitting.
"Maybe someone abused her or worse..." Deanna bit her lip. "Or she could have been jumped."

Sophie was woken abruptly as the Night Bus jumped, she noticed Lance had moved to sit by Deanna, but she didn't think anything of it. She noticed they were getting close as the bus stopped to let of an elderly witch. One more stop and they'd be there.

"Lance," Deanna said, dropping her voice even lower. "I did research on human nature... emotion.... lying. Sophie is lying and there's a reason for it. Personally, I think she's too trusting to be an abuse victim. But perhaps she did get jumped. In any case, she's awake now and we can discuss this later."
Deanna nodded toward Sophie and indicated for Lance to move over so they didn't look suspicious to Sophie.

Lance moved next to Sophie. "So, can you think of any enemies that the victom could have had?" I know we have allready been over this, but can you think of any reason to kill her? Did she have any boy friends?

Deanna checked her robe pockets once more for Extendable Ears. She needed to seem occupied. Lance seemed to be a top-notch flirt and could probably get any answers he wanted from Sophie, but not if Sophie thought Deanna was listening. Sure enough, her Extendable Ears were still in her pocket. She continued to rumage through her robes, pretending to look for something, while secretly listening to Sophie and Lance.

"No, I can't think of anyone except who I've already said, her parents old friends. I don't know who her boyfriend was right now, I hadn't talked to her much for three weeks. She'd been having test after test and we'd only maybe written two letters. Last I heard, her boyfriend was a seventh year from Hufflepuff, he was a very quiet muggle-born."

Deanna fought the urge to ask if Sophie knew the last boyfriend's name. She hoped Lance could get that much out of Sophie. Deanna felt tactless around other people sometimes. She knew she could weasel information out of people when she really put her mind to it, but she felt more like observing for now.

"So, what did she say about this boy?" asked Lance. He could see that Sophie was a little hesitant about this topic, but it seemed like he needed to get it out of her."

Dana transformed back into her human form as the Knight Bus drove off. After sending a brief message to the contact, she Apparated a little further and, withdrawing her wand, raised it to summon the wizarding transport.
As Stan came to give his "welcome" speech, Dana just nodded and made her way onto the bus. At this point, she didn't care if she was seen or recognized. After all, what was so odd for her to be found riding the bus, anyway? She sat down in a seat near the front, and kept her gaze forward; she wouldn't give any look or notice to the other passengers.
Why make it any easier for them to recognize me, anyway? she thought. And just as the Knight Bus gave a slight jerk, Dana sighed loudly, withdrawing a file of papers from her inside pocket. She could at least spend some time getting other work done, and not just following and watching Deanna and Lance for the contact.
